Light up when recieve text

I have only recently got my phone and didnt realise that it doesnt light up when i recieve a text message, is there a way to do this or is it just that sony phones dont do it? Thanks

They do not do this, however you do get a notification light appearing at the top of the screen to advise you of the message.
