Learining client 2.1 wastes battery

Now I am satisfied with how my battery lasts (around 36 hours with the help of Juice Defender and Power Saver turned on)

however in power managment when I check what wastes the battery

something called Learning Client 2.1 wastes 25% of the battery, Waht is this and can I turne it off?

I simply cannot believe your Go lasted 3-5 days ever. Mine is a week old, with the original 2.3.7 Android firmware and it lasts 1 day with light usage, 3-4 bars, e-mail through WiFi all day long.

Had the same batteryproblem with Learning Client, looked at all the permissions it needed and Sony cant answer what exactly it does (with all that permissions), so its smelled a bit fishy. No one can give a straight answer what it does, sounds like spyware to me.

Maybe this is an old leftover from some developer firmware they forgot to remove in final retail firmware release, just speculating.

Anyway, rooted the phone and uninstalled Learing Clent and my battery life have never been better.

granted it is more often 2-3days then 4/5days, BUT the best performance of the battery startet with the usage of Llama, which now turns all data/wifi/bluetooth connections OFF, whenever the display is off.

Since the ICS has the similar feature, Llama might not be needed anymore - but it is very convenient to have turning on specifically the dataconnection when not at work or at home...

Yes, of course, you dont get all the emails exactly when they pop in, but i can very good live with myself checking now and then. Later on, i can post you some screenshot of the long battery run

Sony, I am having the same problem with your badly coded and poorly tested software. Battery life since the ICS update has been terrible.

I have carried out some tests and I agree that the learning client appears to be linked with access to the GPS. If I close all Google maps processes and Learning Client and leave the phone - everything is fine. As soon as I launch anything that requires access to the GPS, Learing Client reappears.

Sort this out Sony.

And whilst you're at it, can you find a support representative who isn't rude and obnoxious? The service from Samuel so far in this thread (and on another concerning the same issue) is appalling. I dont expect a representative from Sony to become defensive and border-line hostile when a customer is reporting a legitimate problem. Can I request support from someone who is polite, helpful and actually knows what they are talking about? Thanks.

The learning client is to help phone can connect to the satellite faster and get a fix.

maybe we can understand as it is for Assisting-GPS(A-GPS).

and of course I think it should be truned off when GPS disabled. I suggest you check whether GPS has been turned off in your phone? I

How do you know it's for A-GPS, Mr. Lu? I mean, why are you so sure?

My (flawed, but still good) memory tells me that "Learning client" is running even when GPS function is turned off, i.e. it doesn't get stopped as a service when GPS feature is turned off, nor does it stop wasting the battery.

I will perform a test though, to see if it is in fact so.

Hi, I really don't thing that it is A-GPS, as even if I made root on my phone and freeze the Learning Client I still have quite quick GPS fix. When I disable mobile data, fix does take much longer time. So assisting of GPS does work without it as well...

After freeze of Learning Client it does not waste battery and I did not found any missing feature, only prompt informing that mobile data can be used after GPS module was switch on has disappeared.
