Hi,
I have encountered a problem with the "E-Mail" client on the xperia pro. (Not: Google mail client, not: Exchange client).
My e-mail provider "1und1" allows me to collect all mails to my domain into a single "catch-all" (or another name: multidrop) account. That means, that all mails to my domain are collected in one account, regardless what is written in front of the @. So E-Mails to sony@
To set up this kind of account I have to name it to *@
And this is, where the "E-Mail" program of the xperia pro prevents me from using it:
It seems as if user names with asterisk are not allowed by this program - shortly after starting the test (too short for really testing it) - i get an error message about an authorisation error - but I think, that the programmers have installed a username-check, that prevents me using the asterisk username.
Is it possible to remove this check in future versions?
Other programs on android (K9 Mail, Profi Mail) and Thunderbird (on PC) don't have any problems with this asterisk name, so there should be no reason to not allow this in the "E-Mail" program ....
Thank you..
I know that there are problems with symbols like this, and I have already forwarded feedback about it so hopefully we'll see some changes in future software's.
