Can you please confirm what version of Android your phone is on? You can check this under Settings > About Phone.
Try removing the app optimisation from Whatsapp. You can do this under Settings > Battery > 3 dots > Battery Optimisation > Apps > Then tick Whatsapp.
This should allow it to run in the background and let your notifications come through.
What's App was only the example. The problem is about the Internet connection itself. I don't get any notifications from any app. I have to open the app and refresh it manually. It happened when I updated my phone to Android 6.0, that's why I'm asking here
Yes, by default Marshmallow puts battery optimisation on all apps, so you will need to turn off the optimisation for each app you wish to have refresh in the background.
