Hi... I'm new to this site after switching to Xperia X Compact from iPhone.
I'm having an issue with significantly increased data usage which I think is due to my phone automatically switching to mobile data when wifi signal is weak (or very busy). I can't be 100 % sure but the day I got the phone I'm almost certain it automatically switched from wifi to mobile data later in the day and then yesterday I had problems downloading some large files and then today received a notification that I had almost reached my data limit for the month so again, I'm thinking it has switched over by itself.
Is there a control to prevent the phone automatically switching to mobile data ?
Thanks
You can go to settings > data usage > and check what has been using up your data, keep in mind that MMS will go through data not WiFi
which app is causing this problem?
You don't have to disable data while on WiFi, but indeed, if the WiFi connection is too weak it will switch back
Hi @DeanB72,
Welcome to the community.
Under Settings > Wifi > 3 dots > Settings there is an option for "Auto network switch". This will automatically choose the best connection, either wifi or mobile data depending on which is stronger. Turn this off, and it will only use wifi if it is available, regardless of the quality of the connection.
Hi.... Thanks for that. I had seen that option but I already had it deselected so I can only assume that it was my mistake all along in that I hadn't switched the mobile data off.
Thanks for all the replies
