Imap doesn't work after update

Hello,

yesterdayi have upgraded my sony z2 D6503 to andriod 5.0.2 --> 23.1.A.0.690, and then my email client stopped working for IMAP.

i get the same error and i have tried several email clients from the play store, and none of them was able to connect to the email server.

Regards,

hoping to hear from you soon to fix this issue.

Sorry to hear that you have issues with email.

As the same thing happens also with other email clients from the play store this doesn't sound related to the update of the phones software. I recommend that you try this on both WiFi and mobile data to make sure it's not an issue with your connection.

If that doesn't help, try another email account (for example a Gmail account) to see if it's your account.

Have you tried changing certificate settings to "accept all SSL certificates"?

Open your email client, open menu to the right and goto: Settings > "your account" > Incomming settings.

Tick: "accept all SSL certificates".

well,

let us see, the default mail client in the android was working before the update, and after the update it stopped working, even though I have not changed anything. Gmail and other emails does not work on IMAP, and that is the only thing not working for me.

definitely it is an issue related to the update, since i  have not changed any setting in mobile for this to stop working. even though, i though it might be the application itself, so i have installed different applications, and all of them didn't work, even the ones which were working before.

does this sound like a problem?

As it happens in different email clients and with different apps this sounds like it's related to your internet connection. Did you try it on both WiFi and mobile data? Have you checked your APN settings? These may have been reset to your operators defaults when you updated.

Internet is working fine on the mobile.no issues with APN.

email clients are working with exchange activesync. WIFI, 4G, 2 different service providers ! not working.

That sounds very strange.

When the same thing happens in different email clients and the internet connection is working i can't see how it could be the phones software causing the issue.

When you tested this with a Gmail account, did you check so that IMAP was enabled in that account? You can enable IMAP in a Gmail account from https://mail.google.com -> [settings icon] -> Settings -> POP/IMAP.

Then open Email and add new account. Enter your email address (*@gmail.com and your password), tap "Manual setup", select "IMAP" and then use these settings:

Username: your Gmail address

Password: your password

IMAP server: imap.gmail.com

Port: 993

Security type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)

Then tap "Next". Your phone should then ask for outgoing Settings (which then means IMAP is working).

Outgoing settings for Gmail:

SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com

Port: 587

Security type: STARTTLS (Accept all certificates)

Require sign-in: [enabled]

For IMAP/SMTP you may also need to enable access for less secure apps on https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

when i open the stock android email app and try to setup my work email this happens. when i try to check the security, it gives me an option to select the certificate, however when i click on select certificate, i get this error ""No certificate found. The application exchange services has requested a certificate. Selecting a certificate will grant the application the ability to use this identity with servers now and in the future. You can install certificates from a PKCS#12 file with a .pfx or a .p12 extension located in external storage."

and for some reason i think this is the problem Slightly_smiling_Face

If you see that option it sounds like you are trying to setup Exchange ActiveSync and not IMAP.

Are you trying to use IMAP or Exchange ActiveSync?
