I HATE MEDIA SERVER! BATTERY DRAINER!

Hi dear support team!!

PLEASE REPLY!

Just writing to give you some feedback about the MEDIA SERVER process and battery life on my Xperia ZL.

The feedback is that: I HATE IT!!

It's useless as I believe it manages the media sharing in a local network and updates the media (pics, mp3, etc) that we take or upload to the device.  Doesn't it?

Can you please TURN IT OFF? Let us choose when we need it instead of having it running all the time uselessly!!

Please check out the screenshots I provide so you can know better how horrible it looks this issue...

Please use another method for 4.3 and 4.4.

I hope to see this with the ability to be turned off or something better by 4.4 if not, then I'll trade my ZL for a NOKIA or SAMSUNG and won't buy another SONY, ever again!

I think I won't like to do that... but battery life is not good having such a horrible drainer on it.

You're smarter than me, you're the developers, find another way to make it work. It's not good as it is.

Thank you for your help and for passing this on to the developers working on the updates, in advance.

- L.

Pd: I'll really appreaciate an answer. I hope I haven't wasted my time elaborating this.

I have deleted all the media and followed the steps above and I still get the following:

Screen 44%

Mediaserver 37%

Cell standby 6%

Phone idle 4%

Android System 3%

Androis OS 2%

Can mediaserver be disabled? if so what will it break?

may be the software developers at sony are unable to write bug free code..even for every time they develop new os update..always some bugs are there..and the quality of service is worst..at sony service centre(chaitanya electronics,pimpri-chinchwad) the people arent helping customers. they are unable to answer the queries of customer..dont buy any sony products

Solution found........! Use ur default Xperia Home.....!

i am using xperia sp....initially i thought of adding some flavour to my phone by customising it....so i used NOVA LAUNCHER....! everything was perfect expect the battery life....yes it **bleep** ur battery juice....!! overnight its battery usage was 22% losing 12% overall, which was too bad.....! so shifted back to my Default Xperia Home....now the battery usage for media server overnight was only 2% losing only 4% overall...Default launcher is always the best....Cheers...:smileyhappy:

I had problem with my xperia z.

It was overheating and battery was draining very quickly. It'd only last for a few hour (2-3hours) even if the phone was idle.

I checked and found out that the mediaserver was taking up alot of battery.

I upgraded the firmware with sony companion software. It also upgraded the OS to 4.4.2

Since then the overheating problem is resolved. The battery also doesn't drain fast

I hope this was helpful

I too observed the problem today. I don't see this in a daily basis, but this is still surprising. Media server is on.top of battery draining processes, with 75% battery drain, and screen is next to it, with only 6%

The keep awake time is 3h 10 min
Kindly enlighten about this problem and the solution

I have same problem !, Media server used 40 % of my battery.!

I charged my phone "before" i went to bed up too 97%,

Then i went to bed.

I woke up to about 10-12 % ! i slept like 7-8 hours.

When this usually happens i restart phone.

And that helps but i want to know how to get rid the problem
