I can't connect to any Bluetooth devices with my Xperia Ray

When I troubleshoot on my windows pc, it tries to download a driver known as ' Bluetooth peripheral driver ' but it can't find it online. There is four other drivers that it downloads and they are successful. I tried sending Sony a support message about this but they think it might be either a software glitch or just that the other devices that I'm trying to connect to are not compatible. I don't think these are the case as I've noticed someone else online has the same problem and has not been able to solve it. I have tried downloading Bluetooth apps to see if if it was possible but nothing. Does anybody have any advice or suggestions please? Oh and before anyone says try and update with pc companion, I've tried that too. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

So just to confirm, whenever you try to pair the phone with another device you do check the Discoverable option right?

Also when you try to connect, do you get an error message? or your device cannot be found nor find any other device?

Yeh, i did actually check that just in case i wasn't discoverable. I get an error message when trying to connect to my partners phone saying something like 'could not load target' (i forget the exact message now). It pairs to both devices but doesn't connect. I think i may have found the reason why it won't connect to my partners phone - it's a blackberry and i think they may not have the same bluetooth system (from what i found online) but i don't really know. Seems silly to have different bluetooth capabilities, talk about making things difficult.

This however, doesn't explain what's going on with my laptop - it still has that peripheral device not installed and it just won't connect at all. It's OS is windows 7 (64x or something), i am wondering if this is the problem. Maybe Windows 7 isn't fully updated to work with the android bluetooth system or something. Whatever the reasons, it is very frustrating. I know i could just connect with USB but it seems like such a waste of a feature.

I too have exactly the same problem and looking out for solution.

In my mobile it says the laptop is paired but not connected.

In my laptop it is able to first discover the mobile, it sends the code and after i give accept, it tries to install some driver before it fails.

In my laptop it says bluetooth peripheral device not installed.

And my laptop works fine with other mobiles

i also have a windows 7 laptop..

i connected both my sony ericsson arc and nokia n95

but the status is this only for the both phones..

but i can send \ receive file from \ to pc , no problem at all..

i also got the same message no drivers found..but i ignored it and when i tried it was able to receive and send files without any problem,,,,

clcik the bluetooth icon and select " show bluetooth device"

remove it from your laptop then again pair and make sure both the laptop and your phone are discoverable//

connect it...

then again go to the bluetooth devices..then double click on your phone and see what all services you get..

for my arc i get 3 things.

send file , play music and some backup option..try it..

I'd also suggest to install PC Companion. Maybe what you need is the proper drivers and PC Companion will install those.

I already have tried updating with pc companion but it says i'm up to date.

I really believe that it could be a different bluetooth system on blackberry and at the moment I can't try it with anyone else but as soon as i can i will see if i can connect to other people's mobile devices.

I had an update which i noticed earlier today from windows update for my adapter (good timing) and it worked both ways for the computer. So that's one issue sorted. I'm more bothered about connecting to mobiles to be honest as i could easily connect mobile to pc via usb.

Really good that it worked with your computer. Lets just wait until you have the chance to try with another phone to see if it works fine.
