Huge battery drain after ICS update

Hello, I have a problem with my Xperia Ray after the ICS update, now the phone drains a huge amount of battery when its just in standby mode.

And one thing, please create a downgrade tool that lets you downgrade to GB again.

As i said before, i already done all this shit, and one other thing, why cant you at sony create a downgrade software?

Im very unhappy with your support, this is my second Xperia phone and the old one(X8) was just a misstake.

No more Sony here, this is just a huge fiasco, and the update feels so "Alpha", and this is not accepted by us users

As you have done the way i told, means ICS has been installed in the best possible way Slightly_smiling_Face

Now my advice is to observe your battery

How long it lasts for..

please note... just after charging to 100% if you use your mobile for 1 minute,,, it may show android OS consuming upto 70-80 %,, don't assume these statistics as somewhat strange or abnormal

Remember your battery app is showing stats for past one minute only Slightly_smiling_Face

I have possibly the same issue as described here. However I can probably give you more information.

First I've upgraded to the official 4.1.A.0.562 using flashtool, which worked fine and produced a whopping 3-4 days of standby time (this is my second phone, so it's mostly just sitting around doing nothing).

The problem started, when I then approved SUS to update to 4.1.B.0.431. Same use standby dropped to about 6-8 hours with no extra software installed, and even with data, wifi off AND the phone being in Flight mode! What's more interesting is that according to the phone the battery lost 50% charge overnight, while being TURNED OFF (but with the battery still installed). Removing the battery stops the insane drain.

Interestingly Go Power Master still reports 40-70 hours of expected battery life when installed.

Downgrading back to 4.1.A.0.562 doesn't fix the problem.

I was given a hint that the battery stats might have been corrupted during the update process. Is there any way I can reset those? I was told you need to root the phone to do it (by deleting the database file manually), but I'd like to avoid that.

I really hope there's some sensible solution to this, as otherwise the phone has just become a useless brick.

I think you should try downgrading to gingerbread and then update through PC COMPANION to ICS

Try to install ICS for your region

Root when on gingerbread, edit your build prop, set your customizatiion and upgrade

I also had huge battery drain after upgrading my Xperia Mini to ICS.

Then I ran a repair, and the problem solved..

Same problem here, phone generates huge amount of heat and battery is empty in few hours. More interesting thing is that 700mAh charger cannot get battery full, it stays at 80-85% and phone is hot as h*** (wont charge to full even when phone is switched off). Update history GB -> official ICS -> 4.1.B.0.431 and battery drain started. Tried SUS reinstallation but that did not help.

I'll try formatting sdcard and reinstalling with SUS again.

There a multiple threads with the same issue, battery drain/overheating after ICS update. One incident may indicate that there may be a hardware issue, multiple occurrence's after a software upgrade indicates software issue as the chances of it affecting multiple phones spontaneously is very remote. This is very serious as batteries can explode and cause fires. Sony had better take this issue very serious as there are legal ramifications!

I think it is SW problem (it started immediately after update) but I'll put it to service tomorrow. I just lost 5 hours of my life trying to re-update phone. SUS updated itself and ended up to "unknown error" or stucked to "syncronizing" state for ages. PCC stucked on "preparing" stage and another try gave "failed to update" error. Tried with two PC's with Win7 and third one with XP. Another few hours in forums revealed that these errors *may* have occurred due Sony server overload. Yes, I did remove and re-install both softwares and rebooted and did magical moves. I thought 'unknown error' was patented by Nokia, please fix yours before they sue sony Slightly_smiling_Face

Anyway the heat is coming from upper part of phone, not from the battery, somewhere near the flashlight, so it can be f.e. cpu running infinite loops.
