How to update phone?

Hello, i have recently goetten an xperia u and dont know how to update it becuse i have some issues with thephone and have been told a   should fix them but i have tryed the instuctions for the update where  you  put usb in and hold volume buton down but nothing happens.

Any help  would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum.So You want to update to ICS.

You need SUS which can be found here:

http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/

Turn of your phone.

Open SUS.

Next then read read

choose phone XPERIA U

Connect plug to computer . do not plug to phone now

then press the volume down button and plug the cable in phone at the same time.

keep holding

IF successfull green light will light at the bar. IT WILL ONLY LIGHT HALF SO YOUR PHONE IS NOT DEFFECTIVE.
