i bought yesterday the xperia ray gold but when i use my pin to enter the mobile phone ,it asks me for anoher code.unlock code or something like that.that code refers to the cell phone and not my sim.do you know which the code is or where i can find it?thank you

How did you set up your PIN?

it's the security PIN or pattern, if you forgot your pin or pattern, it will ask you for your Gmail and password if you don't remember that and can't figure it out then you need to use

Update Service to repair your phone, it will delete everything on your phone (your music and pictures will be fine)

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it

Contacts

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

Apps

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

SMS/MMS

if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then

Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail

i bought that mobile phone from germany and i dont know good german so the translation that i will make is not exact.it says  : password for unlocking must be given."i have never used it and this message shows up right after i put my pin.so that doesnt let me go to menu or the settings.i went to the shop today and they told me that i have put a password and they dont know it but i answered them that i was never able to reach the menu or the settings or the contracts.in fact it is like i have never used it

easily.i had no problem with my pin.the problem was after that because the mobile phone asked me one password ,but i dont know the password.how can i know it afterall.....

my friend i never used my phone so i can not fix it or make an update...i can not reach the menu or the settings.my phone is kind of locked by a code that i dont know but i really thank you for your interest and for the info.its my 2nd xperia so i have some experience but your info below is very helpful

you dont need your phone to be working for the update

you can still update it,,

just download the above software mentione by uliwooly..

and the software will tell you what all to do

i dont know why should i update it before i still used it but you probably know more than me....i left the phone to the store i took it to send it tou se but i dont know if they will make it without this password.so probably when i get it back i ll do what you and uliwooly suggest.the problem is that i use se mobiles 6 years and its the first time it asks me for a password without a reason.and the guys in the store didnt know too but i guess i didnt do anything bad.
