how to save text messages when screen does not respond

hi

the screen of my xperia Z has cracked in many places - just held together by the antiscratch film.

I need to recover my text messages but, although the phone seems to working ok, and I can connect it to my pc via usb and see the internal storage,  I can't physically access the phone and so can't switch it for use by PC Suite or any other software.

any suggestions would be gratefully received, especially as I have to hand the phone in tomorrow when the replacement arrives.

You could buy USB OTG cable and connect a mouse and keyboard to your device.

that's a thought to try.

I've also found that PC Companion - rather than PC Suite - seems to not care what mode the phone is in and trundles through its backup process anyway.

So, maybe there may be some bends in the road but at least the gate is open

Pc companion will backup as long as the device is not locked with a PIN/password.
