I've seen some threads on here about copying ALL your contacts to the sim card, but I have 100's of contacts as the phone has synched all of my Google contacts' email addresses. I don't want all of my email addresses on the sim card! Can anyone tell me how I can save ONLY the contacts with phone numbers? I tried ticking a few of them and selecting 'save to sim' (or something like that), but then I could not see how to view them? When I click on Contacts it doesn't give me the option to view those on the sim, so I don't even know if they copied across ok.
Also, when I save a new contact, the option to save to the sim acrd is not there; does anyone know why, or how I can save new contacts to the sim?
Thanks.
It will sync everything that you have on your phone, you might need to find a third party app that allow you to do just that.
Try going to your contacts, tap the 3 dots, then go to "Filter". Tick "Contacts with phone numbers only" and untick everything else.
Then, when you go to "Export contacts" it should display only contacts that have phone numbers.
Because the data transfer from SIM is very slow, Android will not display contacts directly from SIM cards anymore. They have to be copied to the internal memory.
Thanks both. It seems there isn't really a way of saving only selected contacts to the SIM card. Maybe the best thing is to wait till I've got the memory card & save all the contacts to that (my last phone was an Xperia S & had no memeory card so I'm just used to saving to ghe SIM as back up!)...
@AliWonder, So you are trying to save individual contacts to your Google back up, not to the SIM card? Sorry, I think I misunderstood your query.
Thanks. I am trying to save selected contacts to the SIM card.
The whole business of contacts in this phone is doing my head in to be honest! I set the filter to show 'only contacts with phone numbers' so that it doesn't bring up all 500 of my Google email contacts (!), but now when I manually add a contact - to the phone only, no back-up - who only has a phone number; the contact is not visible unless I filter to show the Google account etc & almost all my contacts! I do not understand why:
1) The 'contacts with phone numbers only' filter doesn't seem to work;
2) Why I cannot save selected contacts to the SIM card and also filter so I can view these?
I also have another query about contacts. The phone doesn't seem to allow me to type in a new number to an sms message unless it is in my contacts? Do I really have to add every single person I sms to my contacts in order to message them? Some of these are just one-off messages; it's a pain to have to add all of these to my contacts list! Am I doing something wrong here? On my old Xperia S I could simply type the phone numnber into the 'To' box, but this phone won't allow me to send the message if I do this.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Hmm, the functionality works exactly as I described above on my handset. I am able to select individual contacts to transfer. I have a feeling this might be to regional differences in the firmware if you are unable to do this. If that's the case, uliwooly will be right and you'll have to use a third party app.
As to your other query, you definitely should not have to add a contact in order to text them. What SMS app are you using?
Hi @CameronT - it allows me to type the number but then the 'send' arrow is disabled so I cannot send the message.
