After I upgraded the phone to Nougat, I found that now the keypad during log-in screen right after turning the phone on has a key pop-up whenever I press a number.
I would like to know how to disable the key pop-up on that screen.
I'm sure I have all the settings for keyboards (switftkey) and such to not have key pop-up.
However, this does not help for the log-in screen keyboard case.
Can anyone kindly help me or point me out how to fix this issue?
Thank you very much
are you referring to the pin lock before android boots?
Yes.
settings>lock screen and security>pin/password>secure start up>no thanks
if that doesn't work, try to remove your security by settings it to none, then choose your preferred security again, this time when the secure start up pop us , press no thanks
Thank you for your reply.
Maybe I wasn't clear, I prefer to have pin/password at startup.
It just whenever I press a number on the login screen, there is a big number pop-up every time I type or press the pin numbers.
That is like telling everyone that is looking at my phone what my actual pin is.
My request is how to disable such key pop-up.
It would be nice if someone helping me on this issue because it wasn't there before I update the system to the latest version.
Thank you very much.
Hi @THESCY,
Are you using the standard Swiftkey keyboard or another keyboard application? If you are using Swiftkey keyboard there is a feature to disable this function.
To disable this go to Settings > Language & input > Virtual keyboard > Swiftkey Keyboard > Typing > Keys > Key pop-ups > turn this feature off.
Most keyboards have this feature so if you are using another keyboard application, check the settings in that keyboard and see if you are able to disable the pop-up feature!
Let me know how it works!
I use only swiftkey. I did turn off that feature.
The key pop-up is disabled only on the log-in screen after the phone has already turned-on.
However, if I just turn on the phone or do the restart, the first log-in screen will have the pop-up key. (I think it is the secure start login screen).
Thank you very much.
Thanks for getting back to me!
I just tested this on a Xperia X Performance running Nougat and the pop-up key feature disabled and I noticed the same behaviour as you do, that you still receive the digit or the letter as a pop-up when entering the code to start Android.
I totally understand your point and I will forward this internally as user feedback.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!
Thank you very much. I hope the fix to this issue come out soon.
No problem at all!
I edited the thread title a bit so other users will have an easier to find it in case they are wondering about as well!
