How do I enter a phone unlocking code

How do I enter a phone unlocking code into my Xperia X8 I got the unlocking code from my service provider they told me to press the left arrow key then ** then left arrow key I have no idea where to find a left arrow key, the 2 arrow keys that I can see on my phone either deletes one of the stars or returnes to the home page from the keypad can anyone help me?

Hi,

To enter the unlocking code, you would firstly need to insert your new SIM card. When you power the handset on with this inserted, it will ask you to enter your network unlocking code. I hope this helps you.

here's the instructions to enter the unlock code.

1. Switch ON your Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 with a  SIM Card other your current network

2. Your Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 will request to enter an unlock code.
3. Tap the box where you have to input the code and a number pad will appear.
4. Type in the unlock code we send to you.
5. Press the 'Unlock' button on the phone.
6. Your Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 phone should now be unlocked.

How do I enter an unlock code if I do not have access to a different carrier's SIM?  I have recieved my subsidy unlock from my service provider but at the moment I do not have a non AT&T SIM card.

I have unlocked Sony phones in the past (albeit before the smartphone revolution) and it was a very simple process...enter a certain service code, and the phone prompts you for the subsidy unlock code. There has to be a similar way to do it for the Xperia line of smartphones.
