Headsetproblem SE xperia arc

Hi, I've had my xperia Arc for a year or so, and the first headset I've used for running broke the other day. Today I bought a new one, sennheiser OMX680I, and I do realize that is the iPhone model but I liked the model, had the "normal" one before, but the electronics store did not have it this time arround. Anyway I suspected I wouldnt be able to use the volume control nor the mic, which wouldnt be a huge deal, but I can't even get the bloody things to play any sound. Is my phone really so restricted that it cant play sound on other "brands" headphones. (it is a 3,5mm minijack) Anyway hope you can clarify this.

For a headset to work with your phone they need to use the same sound standard. The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc uses a standard called OMTP. Please check and make sure that your headset uses the same one.
