Headset volume down key problem with STH30

Hello!

I just bought a Sony STH30 Stereo Headset for my Xperia Z1.

But when pressing the "Volume down" button on my headset, the key is hold for 5 to 10 seconds.

This only happens on the Xperia Z1, it's working fine on other phones.

It also works pretty fine when changing the volume of an active call - it only happens when trying to lower the volume of the phone or music.

Greetings from germany,

Daniel

Bought these headphones today. NO problems at start except that I could not choose previous track. Downloaded the Headphone controller app. Worked great for a few hourses. Then..? Even after I deleted the app I have the same problem. And after I try to lower the volume, it mutes instead and then all the buttons stop to work.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, the STH-30 head set is compatible with the Xperia Z1 compact according to the Sony website but it simply doesn't work. This is simply a lie.

Finally there is absolutely no headset with a volume control compatible with the xperia, even their own Sony products!

Sony's staff nothing to reply??

No fix for this yet? Why is it that this headset(sth30) work on ALL other samsung and nexus phones and not on my xperia z1 compact? To think i paid for a buggy phone and an incompatible headset is really sad. Please fix this.

Hello, had exactly the same problem. Even with the new Android 4.4.4 the problem still exists. It's beyond belief that sony announces a headset as "Stereo Headset STH30 will go great with Z1 Compact" but has such functionality problems. I wrote had the Problem, cause i returned my Xperia Z1 Compact and the headset. I could not stand the truth that i had spend a not small amount off money on something that is not working. Despite the fact that i had to buy a new headset. The old ones that worked well with my xperia ray are refused as not combatible by the xperia z1 compact. All headsets work well on every other Android device i had the chance to test with. Sony go this way further and i think you will loose more customers.

Please tell me another way to use the three button, i have try "Headset Button Controller" app, "Smart key " app by Sony, but all is missing something like this:

- 1 click play / pause button to play / pause: OK

- 2 click play / pause button to next : OK

- 3 click play / pause button to previous : OK

- Volume Up / Down key : not working.

Please advices.

Hey!

I have the same exact problem with my Degauss Labs 'Dual Driver' 3 button 3,5mm headphones. Pressing the volume up, works OK, the main middle button works OK, but pushing the volume down button results in one click or a concecutive long press. Very frustrating.
I've tried uninstalling smart connect, reboot and test; reinstalling smart connect and retrying. No luck. The headphones work on a Z3 and most other android phones I've tried it with.

Has anyone resolved this issue? Could it be hardware related, like a loose connection or broken component?

Update:

Tried the headset in another z1 Compact, and it works fine. Decided it's a hardware problem, since full reinstall didn't help.
Sent it to repairs, where they replaced the audio jack and side keyflex. Got it back, and the problem still persists.
