If you want to use real headphones (not plugins) there is NO WAY to use them with an XPERIA S today
!!
It's scary that Sony used another standard (CTIA) and forgot to provide us customers with an adapter if we want to use our expensive headphone's
When I talked with Sony customer service about this they recommended me to a third supply support, but they could not tell where
?!
So I tried to buy two different cables that were told to be a CTIA to OMTP adapter: none worked
(one from SWE one from UK).
Questions then:
What does Sony think about this problem, will they do nada?
They do not sell any real headpones (mic) with CTIA connector for XPERIA S, will they ever?
The adapter they refer to as "someone" as a third part supply provider sell, does it exist for XPERIA S, and if so - WHERE?

There is a thread that explains this: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/154264#154264
Unfortunately the adapter shown in the linked thread converts CTIA to OMTP not vice versa which is what you require. We have no such adapter at the moment I'm afraid so my suggestion will also be to check for a third party adapter.
Well, that's great!!! I just purchased 2 (twoo) brand new headphones Sony. "Accessory not supported" they say. All of the sudden Sony decided to switch standards. Is it an upgrade? No. Just the mike wire position has been changed. Great! As if ever in any product description someone mentioned the standards. I'm searching for adaprors for a week now. THANK YOU SONY!
