Headphone problems

Just got my new experia s and none of my beats headphones (with in line mic) work have i missed a setting somewhere. I was told by various retailers that the beats headphones would be compatable with this phone. If not its going back to the shop.

But the ones without mice like simple earphones and speaker ( anything 3.5 that is without mic)

Works fine with my xperia s

i have tried turning of headphones surround and equalizer still no luck,

I have your sentiments

I have been using the phone all day trying everything to get my headphones working. Downloading programs from the marketplace etc looking at setting but nothings worked. After more research on this forum i have found out the 3.5 mm headphone jack that is on this phone is not a industry standard one and nothing will work unless you get a adapter or a better sony headset (nobody elses). With all the other problems i am having with this handset (screen attracting lots of dust, bottom buttons on the phone dont react very well to my touchs) my phone is now back in its box and ready to go back to the shop tommorrow.

Sony have made the phone only work with sony headsets. Imagine if apple did this it would be front page news all over the world. when i took mine back the staff in the shop didnt belive me until i demonstrated it.

Hi, for Xperia 2012 family, new headset standard is implemented, therefore you need to use a CTIA standard headset for the Xperia S.

This is compatible, http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/accessories/smart-headset/

just read that thread and it doesnt make any sense. it says if your headset is apple compatible then it is cita standard. Scroll down to the bottom and it states that the experia s uses the cita standard so why didnt my beats headset work. If if does require the cable adapter why is it not included with the phone.

I did find a app on android marketplace that kind of fixed the problem. Its called htc headset fix. Its a widget put it on you homescreen and activate it. This at least lets you listen to your music but the controls and microphone dont work. This kind of proves it could be a hardware and software problem on the phone. Maybe one day someone will create a app that fixes the problem completly.

hey guys, i hace the same prob, after some online search, i find out a easy way to solve this prob,

1. install a free app called Headset Icon  (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devandroid.headseticon)

2.hold the pause button (middle button) of ur Monster headset

3. insert the headset into the headphone jack

4. the logo of beats, or Monster should be on upper left corner.

5. release the pause button

DONE!!
