HD recording

Why is it that I have 23gbs space yet I can only record HD video for 19mins.28secs using 2gbs  I have been in touch with sony and downloaded a repair but that doesn't work either. What's the point of having HD recording if you can only do under 20mins.

As I understand it's an Android limitation set to 2GB. I don't know if this is something that we can change but I will pass on your feedback to the developers.

but is this the reason why mp4 movies larger than 2Gb doesn't play on my xperia s?

The phone uses vfat file system which has an limitation to 2GB. So if you try to transfer any file larger than 2GB it will most likely become corrupt. Best suggestion here would be to split the file into smaller bits not making any file larger than 2GB.

Hello Johan. I know vfat is limited to 2 GB. But, why don´t give users the option to format the SD card internally as Ext4?.

I know you can´t mount ext4 filesystem in windows, no problem, I can live without it. But... it´s very frustrating to have a hd video recorder limited to 20 minutes becouse vfat file system.

Pd: Galaxy S3 uses ICS + exFAT to solve this problem.

That is annoying.

The first thing is there is no mass storage mode.

we can't change the file system type by formating it.

and because of this i cant store any file larger than 2GB if i want to use it as an external data storage device.

one question though,

Can this issue be solved with ICS upgrade?

I guess you did not set the memory card as the default card. I ever ripped a DVD to MP4 file on Mac but i can not import the MP4 file to my phone because the same problem.
