Hello,
for the past two days my XPERIA Z2 has been constantly shutting down after just a minute or two of using the device. The message displayed says something along the lines of 'phone is about to shut down due to high temperature'.. I am aware that I will have to update my software, but before I do that I need to transfer precious data from my phone to my computer, which I cannot seem to do as the device shuts down the immediate moment the PC Companion recognizes it. I am losing my mind, I really don't want to lose my data, mostly my pictures, i.e personal memories.
Anyone know how to solve this, i.e backup files before updating the software? There must be some way since the device DOES turn on, it just doesn't stay that way for a long time.
Thanks in advance
Boot your phone up then reboot into Safemode and try backing up but I would not use Pc Companion to do so but simply copy and paste - If your phone stays on then it sounds like or would appear that an app is causing issues for you
How to boot into Safemode
Went to safe mode, still the same problem occurs. I just need it to be on for 10 minutes so I can copy/paste my photos somewhere safe but it seems to be impossible for it to stay turned on that long. Thank you anyways
Hi,
Sorry to hear that. I don't think this will help but, you can always give it a shot by removing the SIM- and SD-card to see if the phone can be powered on for a longer time.
I've tried removing the SD card only and it didn't seem to help.. What I've noticed, however, is that the longer I don't try to power it on, the longer it seems to stay on once I do turn it on (if that makes sense..?) So what I'm trying to do now is not powering it on for as long as possible (few hours) to try and see if it can stay on a bit longer, enough for me to transfer my files.. I just need to transfer my photos, other stuff is replaceable.
Thank you for your answer
So, I just removed the SIM card while keeping the SD in and managed to transfer not only photos, but also all the other stuff including music, ebooks etc. to the SD card.. The phone managed to live long enough, haha! Thank you guys for the answers, much appreciated. I will now have the phone taken to the service.
Good to hear that you were able to backup your data.
