Hello,
I have a serious problem with the new version of android kitkat.
When I bought the phone, the battery was comming to last 2 an a half days with heavy use.
Listened to music and spent many hours watching internet and taking photos. At night in the "airplane" mode the battery was down 1% or 2%.
Now with kitkat, the battery only lasts me half a day. And at night in "airplane" mode low battery almost 50%!!
Of course, I have restored the phone data after the update, but nothing change.
I am very disappointed and uncomfortable with this problem.
I bought this phone among other things, for the long battery life.
Boot the phone in safe mode, see if it gets better:

Hello,
I have done as you say.
I charged the battery to 100% and I restarted with the save mode.
I wait for a 1 hour and a half without using the phone, and here are the results. I think that the battery down a little less in save mode... but nothing like the older version of software where a 1 hour and a half with the screen off practically spend nothing.
I´m attaching some pictures, fist with freshly charged battery, and then an hour and a half later.
The "multimedia" service will be the problem, but i don´t undertand what is this exactly, and i have alls auto-refreshing off.
Please I want to know if there is any way to return to my previous android configuration, Jelly bean.
(sorry my english, and sorry, but my telephone is in spanish)
Check out this topic. It is very strange, have you tried a software repair?
Yes, I tried it. Two times. It doesn´t work.
Is the official Support forum saying to try a pirate reset of my xeria?
My phone it´s the second xperia compact that I have with the same problem. The first was returned for the same problem, because I didn´t know it was a problem of android version. The second, after several days with jelly bean perfectly working, I update it because the phone non stop asking me to do it.
That´s when the problems came back and I knew that the android version was the reason.
I forgot to say:
I tried to change an developer optiop in the "developer mode" to kill processes when you no longer use it. Greatly improves battery perfonmance, but continues to spend more than 40% overnigth in airplane mode.
Did you also try a software repair with SUS?
You should not have changed anything in dev options.
Yes I try it.. But, I don´t know which is the difference between Pc companion and SUS.
The result is not the same??
The difference is that SUS is an update engine more than PC companion, which is more like a file explorer.
