GPS problem

Hello All,

I have problem with GPS in my new Xperia GO. I see high number (13 up to 29)  satellites "In View", but no one is "In Use". The signal strength (SNR) is in range from 25 up to 35 out of maximum 99. In few cases I was able to have some satellites “In Use”, but it’s only seldom.

There is no difference if I'm connected via WiFi to network or not. For diagnose I use "GPS Test" application. Can you please help me?

Till now I not unRoot the phone.

As some posts shows, the xperia go has GPS-problems with the latest firmware. With the current bug I can't and I will not recommend anyone, who needs GPS, to buy a xperia go. Sony answers in one of the posts something like this: "This will be fixed with the ICS-Update, maybe. The Update will come quite sure quite soon.

Because I decided to buy the go as a bike GPS. So I have to know, if I should wait for the update or to return the xperia go and either buy the old xperia actice (for which there is already ICS :smileysad:), or buy a device from another manufacturer. Anyway my first enthusiasm is gone by that bad product- and update-management. I can't understand, that sony accept, that one of the key-features for a outdoor mobile doesn't work probably.

The sony marketing promised the update before the Product was on the market for Q3 2012. This quarter will end with the end of this month… How safe are the statements from Sony and when will the problem be fixed?

The upcoming ICS update will contain GPS optimizations for the phone.

I have the same  problem with Xperia go. Solution could be to use “GPS Test” app. In the settings it has ‘Clear AGPS’/ ‘Update AGPS’ buttons. Today my mobile was unable to connect to GPS for more than 10min. After Clear/Update AGPS it took less than 3 min to get decent connection.

I get the feeling, that it will be winter, when the GPS-bug-Fix is on my phone. I don't think that I whould enjoy cycling by this whether. I bought this phone now to use GPS now and not maybe sometime when sony thinks its the right time. There is the problem now and I want a solution now!

You can try “GPS Test” App until ICS update comes. It’s free. On my phone I am getting signal in few minutes after ‘Clear AGPS’/ ‘Update AGPS’.

Hello, I would like to ask Sony one question. So, you guys knew that Xperia go have gps problem, but you closed your eyes and launch it on sale? The phone for me is really good. I bought it with few main reasons. One of them is GPS. I study geography and it is vital for me, but it doesn't work. It is really disappointing. This is like a fraud, you sell the phone with errors. I cannot recommend this phone to the friends and in the future before buying any Sony mobile device i will check everything, because Sony can't be trusted....
