GPS issues since update

Hello Sony and other users

If updated my Neo last week from the stock firmware to 2.3.3 build 4.0.A.2.368.

After that I have issues with GPS signal (DOP). Programs like RunGPS, Google Maps and Navigon loses GPS signal exactly every 5 minutes für about 30 seconds. After that, the DOP is good again. Sometimes it helps to restart the phone, sometimes not. I've tried to find out if it depends, which programs are in the memory but nothing is really obvious.

The issue looks like this:

DOP.jpg

Yesterday I've updated to 2.3.4  4.0.2.A.0.42, but the issue is the same. I've read in another forum that sometimes an update of Googe maps could cause this problem. So I've deinstalled the last update of Goggle maps. Before that I had this issue, directly after that it was gone, but it came back although I did not install the update of googe maps again (Auto update was disabled).

Before the firmware updates I did not have this issues.

What can I do? Are there some log files, which can help? Any idea?

With this issue the GPS is not really usable. Is it possible to downgrade?

Thanks

You are not alone, all Neo, Arc and Arc s have the same issue with the 2.3.4 update (build 0.42).

However the data On hide the real bug, so i think who have a smartphone have traffic data enabled and don't obeserve the problem. But is really inacceptable !!! I don't have DATA, but when i read the specs of Neo, i read GPS in the connectivity list !!!!!!!!!!! And gps works without data since it was born !!!

Activate flight mode can't be a compromise, i agree with you, we must call or receive calls !!!

I'm very angry, but i know Oskar and Sony are working for us, because they Know the bug.

If i shoudn't see any solutions ...... :smileyangry:, better not speak about this

Btw: By activating the gps application, why do all xperia users have to accept the collecting and sending of "anonymous" data via data transfer? Is this a SE thing or is this only a reference how android/google work this way? Anyway i don't think this has anything to do with the gps problem...a data connection is not a "must have" for using gps. And you're right, its better not to speak about the worst case...i still believe in SE programmers Neutral_Face

Some news, and very important results, Sony please pay attention

Oskar if you read, say something about this:

I just updated to the last firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62 and immediatly i did some tests with the usual settings, gsm, data off, roaming off.

Ok, turn on Gps and wait in a stationary position ... after 5 minutes the signal drops :smileyangry:. Well, i didn't expect a solution from this firmware, but continue the test. I wait other 5 minutes and the first surprise, no dropout !! mmm, 5 minutes again and no dropout !!!! again 5 minutes and no dropout !!!!!

Totally 20 minutes and the gps drops only at 5:00 minute, then is stable.

Same thing in the car, i turn on and at 5:00 minute the signal is lost, but after that 25 minutes of navigation without problem.

I'm very angry for this situation, why is not possible delete the first disconnection attempt ??

I know already the answer, and en fact i did the countercheck ...

Turn off the phone, and then turn on. I enable flight mode and gps.

Fixed the signal in few seconds, wait for 5 minutes and more, and no more dropout. :smileyshocked::smileydevil::smileyangry:

It is clear, again there is an attempt to connect and receive data for the satellites, but at this time only for the firts 5 minutes and not after !!!!!!!

Sony say me why, why, why, whyyyyyy ?!?!?!?!?!?

This is not possibile, try to get data only at 5:00 minutes and then not. There is no sense at all.

It is so difficult delete also the fist attempt to connect ??????

I can't accept this compromise in a terminal that cost me 350 EUR.

A chinese Huanway works better, and I can't believe !!!!!!!!

A gps must not receive data, why does so? and with the last firmware, only at 5:00 minutes

Sony, please, make a last effort, and deleted the first attempt to connect at the minute 5:00.

Here in Spain the update is not avalaible.I It would be an improvement if it only disconnects the first time, keep testing to see if it keeps working like that.

I'm waiting for to what Oskar has to say about all this and if they have found a solution.

I have exactly the same problem with Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. That's not nice!!! It is taking too long time.

Don't misunderstand me Marrrco, I want it totally fixed and working but i prefer it to loss signal once and then woking to what it does now.

I realised that i do not have the update because mine is an Xperia mini pro, I'll have to wait to see if next update does something on the mini pro.

Well, did you read this ?

Good, now delete what i said from your mind !!!

Today don't work more, every 5 minutes same problem :smileyangry:.

Probably it was only a coincidence, or something else.

I never have seen a thing like this !!!!

I'm in front of my pc, wifi enabled and gps enabled, and don't drop more.

So, also in this build there are attempts to receive data every 5 minutes.

In flight mode good as usual.

Sony do something or i want my money back !!!!

Now my reply come spontaneus, do anyone know the bug at Sony ?

Ok Oscar is working on, but Sony as brand, know it?

Everyone say me will report the problem, but we have to be sure that a team are working about this.
