Google Play Service hogging up the battery

Recently, I noticed that my phone overheats for no reason even when it is on standby and the battery was draining more than usual. I've checked the power manager and found out that Google Play service is draining up the battery more than the screen. My Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633) is running 5.0.2 and the Google play service is 7.5.71

Does your phone overheat?

Try rebooting and see if it solves the problem.

No never overheats.Was rebooted after cleaning cache on google play services and also after redownloading it.Thanks

Hi stockyvillage have you tried turning off auto-sync under your main settings menu, auto-backup under Settings > Backup & Restore and also turning off auto-updates by going into Update Centre > Settings? If not please try this - keep us updated.

@SophiaW Yes turned them all off and will keep you updated. This only started after the.28 update.I have had the phone since Oct 2014 and never had battery issues before.

I understand stockyvillage, see how it goes with those functions turned off & report back. Have you considered running a software repair on your handset also? As running a software repair is likely to smoothen out the new operating system for you.

@SophiaW.Here are the latest screen shots with the sync backup even WiFi disabled.Basically made no difference.

@SpohieW already done a backup and repair using PC companion,will keep you updated

@SophiaW.The repair has worked don't even see google play services in battery usage now and android os,has only used 4% and only 3 mins of mobile radio active

I seem to have the same issue. Fully charge the phone, it heats up and the battery just drains. Really annoying.
