Why you need update for is there any kind of software you can't use with current software? I think 4.0.4 is the best what u can do with your device. Hardware wise xperia phone are best as you can see on other forum with alots of problem i had faced problem with Galaxy S, ACE, and S2, S3. what special if they get JB update earlier with problems.
Known issues with Galaxy S is three button combo problem and Proximity sensor( Screen black while makes call)
S3 makes red lines in screen when updated to JB.
S2 Yellow screen
ACE hanging reboot.
Thanks if u understand
It is hard to make this decision but I have valid reasons beyond the bullet points you have mentioned.
Firstly, UK firmware for ICS 4.0.4 is very much laggy and have camera focusing issues which also include yellow shade in night mode pictures. Facing frequent crashes with Skype, Viber and other apps which I use frequently. Apart from this WiFi is one of the other issues which puts me in utter disappointment and where Sony is unable to address the issue. It would be quite good if we talk less about battery drain, which only lasts for 5-6 hours making my phone a 'mobile landline'.
Further most important, though I live in the UK I belong to an Indian language community. My language has no support at all in Sony devices. Despite of android rendering Samsung and some other mobile handset manufacturers have extended their support to majority of indic languages even from GB 2.3.7. I personally and through various channels made repeated requests sony to enable indic support in their handsets. This issue can be solved with a single font (unicode Lohit font) and with a basic script where our friends were even ready to donate the code. Google has finally accepted our requests making indic languages with inbuilt rendering facility from JB 4.1 or later versions of Android for global indic language users mainly Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam further Gujarati, Odiya and Punjabi are in their way.
I convinced that there is no point in alerting and wasting time here with a team of deaf and/or helpless from Sony. It is better and time saving to switch to other manufacturer who renders my language making my browsing time comfortable.
