Can you please tell us anything about the 4.2.2 update. What is going to be fixed and when is coming out.
What? Is it top secret? Are they fixing it in north korea and you can't get to it. Come on tell us at least something.
Hey, needed to get some sleep!
Directly from Google+
New firmware update for Sony Xperia Z UK (10.1.A.434).
Changes so far? A new ‘stock’ browser, NFC notification - as you can see in the picture, added Chinese and Japanese keyboards and renamed my keyboard to Xperia International Keyboard (I use two languages). Unlike Chrome, the new stock browser on the Xperia Z allows you to play media - i. e. BBC News videos

Its sad actualy that users have to search through the phone to see whats new. Whats up with sony. Information give us some information. Is it really that hard to put a change log to the firmware or to post something about what are they doing with the next update.
Companies being reticent about giving dates regarding firmware is nothing new - they're damned if they do (and then fail to meet the target) and damned if they don't.
However, as Sony sold the Xperia Z on the back of a promised update, I do feel their position is less tenable than it should be.
I note with disquiet that their next major product, the Xperia Z tablet, is also "only" supplied with JB 4.1 - which would not appear to bode well for a imminent 4.2 release.
Further, equipped with Sony's "flagship" phone, I'm finding myself increasingly unable to install new apps (e.g. Dashclock) because of Android version requirements.
Finally, I have to agree that Sony, if they really want to be number 3, need to communicate with their customers in a more efficient manner - having mods point towards blogs that contain no information is pretty poor - and doesn't help customer's justified questions and concerns.
I really cant understand their politics of consumer support. Its their flagship phone and just look how many flaws and bugs are here. Its like they are beta testing it on us.
Thankfully someone else who sees - beligerence or indifference seems to be the attitudes expressed here with very litlle "direct" Sony input. Will say majority of issues here could be answered by reading whitepapges for unit or just "googling" an answer.
Sony did sell both the Z/ZL under pretense the "buyer" would see 4.2.2 upgrade soon, or soon after release.
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/press_release/sony-introduces-xperia-z-premium-smartphone/#more-7203 Every single press release and promo has stated this. Agree they owe paying customers solid, tangible answers. Sony is at the bottom compared to Samsung (Number One), HTC or Apple (Number 2) for actual "support" related to products.
Moving from number three requires more than just "selling" tons of phones and not supporting them - Already we have Z/ZL and now SP, L along with the 2012 units vying for updates - at least 4 more documented and rumoured phones in the pipe.
Biggest beef with Sony's lack of support is:
1) No place to actually submit a bug or issue let alone be asked for data - Phone model, build, screenshots, logs or reports. This needs to be Sony, somebody tangibly able to facilitate getting it looked into. Everyone else has a web-template, fill in the data out and send it in. Would even be willing to subscribe to something if I felt someone was listening or willing to do something.
Sorry to say, subscribe to the Twitter feed, read the press releases - We bought Sony and they are great at marketing and misguiding. After they have your money, well let's just say they have it and appease the share holders by making/selling more stuff.
LOL, agreed but "Beta Testers" usually have an actual site, place to post issues directly to manufacturer and get a response.
Anything??? Is not android 4.2.2 what we are expecting actually, is the bugs fix!! poor wifi, smoother launcher, camera software...
I logged in just to like your post.
