Hi
If I have the xperia connected via usb I get two drives shown in windows. The internal Phone-Memory and the SD-Card.
When creating a directory on the sd on the phone (with inKa File Manager Plus) it does not appear on my connected windows-pc. The windows-explorer does not show the new created directory. When restarting the phone the directory is also visible in the windows-explorer.
When deleting a file on the sd-card on the phone, the file will remain in windows-explorer-windows (but gets the size of 0byte)
The USB-Setting on the phone (Settings, Xperia, USB-Connection) is set to MTP, which is used per default.
I have the same issue when using another file-manager on the phone. So I don't think it's a problem of the file-tools, because after rebooting the phone the folders are visible in windows.
Creating directories or files in windows-explorer will appear immediately on the phone (allways have the phone connected via usb to my pc).
The storage Card is Transcend micro sd hc 32GB, was installed on the phone (before first use deleted on the phone). Xperia is on newest build.
To get more stability - or name it a work around, I changed the setting for the sd-card to massstorage (msc) on the phone. It works now without problems, but when connected to the pc, the sd-card cannot be be used by the phone. The file-managers do not have access to sd-card. So it's not possible to move a file from A to B on the phone while connected to the pc.
Anyone else with the same Problem? It's some kind of confusing me creating folders and files which are not visible on the windows-pc.
Many Regards Chris
From what I understand, the culprit seems to be MediaServer. It's responsible for updating the media content on your phone. I'm not sure what the frequency or criteria for updating is, but it's frustating when the files or folders you copied does not appear on the phone or from your pc. You sometimes dont' ahve achoice but wait an dhope that it will be update soon.
Or as an alternative, use apps to force MediaServer to update when you need it; like ScanMedia or SDrescan. I personally haven't tried them yet, but do try it out and see if it helps with your situation.
Thanks for your explanation. I hope there will be an update. It's not urgent, but never thought that a function like that could be faulty.
I don't think it's a bug though. Since it's been like this even on Xperia S. Regardless wether u're on stock, custom or vanilla Android. And increasing the update frequency of MediaServer is not a good solution since it uses alot of resource. As it is, it's already quite resource intensive.
Try not to use UMS mode to copy media files, cuz it will take even longer for it to appear on your media players. Some times, it won't even appear at all.
As you say, it might take a while before you can see a change over MTP when using a file manager.
You could also try a software that uses ADB instead of setting the phone to use MSC. You could for example use MyPhoneExplorer from www.fjsoft.at.
