Took some pictures over the weekend using the quick launch, check them out:
Excuse my ignorance on all things camera related, but why would a computerised camera take a picture that has nothing at all in focus?
I could've got better results with a disposable.
Auto Scene used. To add, the quick launch is set to open camera only, after that, I was half depressing then full depress once camera made the focused tone.
Any ideas?
Hey there, I was hoping that the focusing and others camera issues would've been fixed with this new update. But it look like they didnt fixed it.
which pictures (above) were quick launch and which using the shutter?

He already said that the quick launch was set to just open the camera, and the half pressed the physical shutter and then full pressed
Although that doesnt matter bcuz pics with that phone shouldn't come out like that.
As above, quick launch is set to only open the camera app, after that, I half depress the button to focus, then full depress once the camera "pings" that is HAS focussed.
Sorry, couldn't reply sooner as I cannot open the "log in" window of this forum using my phone, the website states it has encountered an error! lol.
Any clues how to cure this? It's rather embarrasing, especially having to take a Nikon camera with me when I have my Sony phone in my pocket anyway!
Completly agree with you. I never used a stand alone camera ever since I bought my Nokia N95 five years ago, and I made a lot of pretty pictures with it. But since I bought Xperia S I have to carry a separate digital cam with me cause you cant count on Xperia S at all. I really hate Sony for cheating me and I will make sure that I will inform as many people as I can in all social services I have accounts about "quality" of Sony production at present day.
Yep Nokia N95 was a good camera, in fact, even the N900 has a better camera, if you upload the images from both phones like I have to the Sony and pinch-zoom, they look better than the Sony images.
I actually even created a special album on one popular social network where I post all the "marvelous" examples of pictures taken with modern 12mpx Sony flagship phone camera, so all of my friends could check the fantastic color noise and mysterios blur effects provided by Sony device which cost me 500€.
BTW, I actually cant see the difference in detail from Xperia S pictures taken at 2mpx and 9mpx settings. The first ones is even better cause you cant zoom them as much so you will not be such terrified by the quality of a picture at closer look
