Flashing red light when push power button on Sony Xperia Tablet Z

Tablet is dead.  Push the power button and the red light flashes three times.

Plug in and power to the wall - no difference.

Plug in and power to the computer - says that there is a power surge to the USB and shuts down the USB.

Push the volume up and power button at the same time for 5, 10, 15 seconds, no help.

Push the volume up and down button and power buttons all at the same time, no help.

How to fix?  Seems the battery needs to be reset, but there is no hard button to push like in my VAIO.

Please remember, this is a tablet, not a phone!

Give it a good charge for about 2 hours then attempt to run a software repair (this is done with the tablet turned off):

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

So it looks like the only solution to this problem is to use the PC feature which completely erases everything off the tablet...there is no other way to possibly safeguard information on this tablet? I followed all the steps the other gentleman did as well.

So, I follow the steps , download sony companion, support zone, update soft , but when I must to select the device model, my tablet model (sgpt122L1/s) doesn´t exist. What can I do ?  Help, please!

On my Xperia Z (SGP321) I had the same issue. That was unconnected usb socket I had replaced. Reopened the tablet, squeezed the plug in, I was able to charge it again. Be aware opening your tablet the first time is not for faint of heart.
