Why not ask to the users of the Xperia Mini Pro (2011) what they would like from an upgraded version of this great device.:smileywink:
I will start with my requests and feedback:
1. 1 or 2 GB or RAM. the Mini Pro still quite good today but the RAM available is a bit low.
2. INTERNAL storage MEMORY 8GB, now is 420mb!uncceptable nowadays. after instally facebook , skype and chrome the memory is almost finished.!
3. screen with better DPI and eventually a 3.5" 16:9 similar to the Xperia Ray, that will give space to a bit larger keyboard.
4. of course FASTER CPU
5. Better Camera 12M Pixel res. with HDR
6. NFC
etc etc
Looking forward for the new "mini pro" ... how you will call it? Xperia MP?
most likely there wont be any "pro" Xperias anymor, there were only on

I doubt Sony will get back on sliding keyboard xperias.
I'll forward this feedback internally.
Well, I am quiye confident of the opposite.
First of all Sony is a Japanese company and I cant think of a teenager without a mini pro-like phone, in Japan.
Nevertheless the phone had a real great success since the x10 was released.
They kept selling the mini pro till the first semester of 2012 so made no sense to make a new one just at the end of 2012.
Now is the time..and I am pretty sure the engineers are already working to the new one. Or maybe is already coming out soon. Let see.... Maybe the moderators of this blog might say something about it.
I have a Xperia minipro 2011 and I'd like an upgrade of pro/minipro too.
I'd like a dual core cpu, more internal memory, up to date android version, possibly mini hdmi out and optional docking station.
Please continue support qwerty slide keyboard!
I would like to add that I and a lot of my friends love the pro/mini pro format with internal slide-out keyboard. It is a very convenient way of working. Speeds up texting, email and in general all kinds of communication. If you look for a niche to sell the new pro series I think scientists like myself are very eager to buy a device that has an integrated keyboard that can also be used to communicate with remote servers and have direct acces to many special characters that require deep navigation with an on screen keyboard otherwise. The advantage of mapping the keys is amazing.
However I have a lot of non-scientist friends here in Belgium with my age (early 20-some) that love the phone, and bought it upon my advice.
I have already emailed the sony support about this but never got any answer/confirmation.
Therefore I would suggest for a next version:
Do not forget this is the only propper smartphone with an attached slide-out keyboard... The type&touch format does exists with some of Sony's competitors but not in this convenient format. There are some covers for other smartphones that use a bluetooth keyboard however this is not as convenient as the built-in and attached format of Sony.
To spice things up Sony might consider out-of-the box support for instance for Ubuntu phone. http://www.ubuntu.com/phone.Just as dell recently started supporting the Ubuntu platform on one of their XPS laptops.
I hope Sony will take this into account in further extending and developping their phones.
Kind regards,
Frederiek - Maarten Kerckhof
I totally agree with the above!
I think it would be very smart if Sony moves into the slidding qwerty arena with a fast handy new xperia (mini) pro. At this moment the market is totally empty of handy qwerty phones and many are the users who are seeking for a new one.
In my opinion, apart from the technical features mentioned above sony must be verycareful with the languages as android may support a vast variety of them but it doesn't do the same when it comes to physical keyboards. I had such a problem with my ASUS tablet. Its docking station didn't function until it was updated with asus software to support different languages.
So lets feel free to enjoy full screen experiences while typing in all languages through an elegant slidding keyboard! Just make it faster... :smileygrin:
An xperia mini pro user from Greece
According to me, the best smartphone ever made was the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini (not the pro) the original mini !
I loved it so damn much ! It was able to do everything that the biggest phone did by the time ! Pretty much camera for a small device as it was, GPS, internet, music, I mean ! I was so surprised that a tiny phone like that could handle all those task !
But with the time unfortunetely it wasn't enough powerful to be able to use the new apps coming from the Market =/ and there were no more firmware update...
So, I know I'm not the only one who loved it and who would be ready to get a new one !
According to me, Sony should really reconsider the x10 mini to create a new one :
* 1-2 Gb of Ram
* A nice processor and gpu (doesn't have to be the last one)
* 8Gb of internal storage (no need much if you can use a sd card !)
* Camera Exmor 8-13 MegaPixel
* Same screen size or bigger if they can reduce space between screen and borders !
* Same phone size ! (it was just perfect !)
* A better battery 😃
* And the last that could make it even more better, IP 55 & 58 !
Think of it, they could be proud to launch the smallest smartphone with highest performance which is able to go underwater !!
If this day comes 😎 I swear I buy a truck full of this new mini phone !
hurry up SONY or millions around the world will start buying Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE
a querty mobile phone....
I dont like motorola so much.... but sony is sleeping...
Yes, the serie mini/mini pro were really fantastic. Small, everything packed in something you can put in any pocket...
It's the time to re-start this success and give to customer a real choice.. Updated spec, a good battery life even if it's 2 mm bigger and 20g heavier and it will be a nice phone, changing fro all these big phones which looks all the same...
