Failure to switch to 3G if signal weak

I've been testing this today because for some portions of my commute I have zero signal. I took my iPhone along with a PAYG SIM on the same network. In the areas where I had zero signal on my XZ the iPhone was showing strong 3G reception. My XZ never, ever shows a 3G connection even though the settings are saying that the phone will swap between 4G/3G/2G depending on signal strength. Does anyone else have this problem, and is it a software issue?

Have you tried setting the network type to 3g only? You can have even more network type configuration. When you access the service menu

I want 4G though, and the XZ to switch to.3G when it is unavailable. I end up with no signal when there is a perfectly good 3G or even 2G signal available

Are you using a new Sim card? Can you try to test other networks in your area? Based on my experience xz will hold on to the 4g signal as long as possible even with 1bar. . Maybe try to set your network to switch between 3g and 4g only

I set my XZ to 3G only, but no signal on my phone. I use the same SIM to sony Z3 set on 3G only and working very good.
I restart XZ phone to factory settings but same problem.
Maybe software update from Sony will resolv this problem?

Hi,

@Sunking101 Sorry to hear this. Have you been able to test setting your phone's preferred network mode to 3G/GSM? This would help us determine if this is related to the phone. I understand that you want to use 4G so I don't expect you to disable it forever, just to test if the phone still drops its network connection. Slightly_smiling_Face

@Conte I'm sorry to hear that. Slightly_frowning_Face At this point you have already tested most things that you can test on your own and I recommend that you get your phone examined by an authorised service center. You can contact your Local support team for information on how you can proceed with this.

Yes, the phone manually switches to 3G.

I have the same problem.

The first 3 weeks evryting was ok.

Now the xperia xz have network los.

4G = ok, when the 4G network is to week its switchs to H+ or H. he is alternating between H+ and H and then no signal anymore.

I've already changed the settings of the phone, but the result remains the same.

Sometimes I do get back reception when I'm out walking.

Can you help us?

@Sunking101 Sorry for the late reply. Could you send me a PM with your phone's IMEI?

Hi @Klmk, sorry to hear that. Slightly_frowning_Face

I'm not sure if I understood this correctly, can your phone only connect to 4G networks and not 3G or 2G even if you set the network mode to 3G/2G only?
