After a day of moderate usage my Xperia Ray is now at 14% battery. With GB it used to be around 50-60%. The phone is slow as molasses, and some apps (notably web browser and maps) are all but unusable because they just shut down with no error message. I would like to be able to browse the web with my "smart" phone, thank you. I even performed a factory reset/restore to no avail.
Sony obviously knew about this, and still they decided not to provide a downgrade option.
Sony: You broke my Ray, give me Gingerbread back now!
Also, this is my ~tenth Ericsson/Sony Ericsson phone. If this remains unsolved, my next phone will be anything but a Sony.
In fact I don't blame Sony for releasing a useless software.
I blame Sony, to release a buggy software and push the customer to upgrade to it. Please do not tell me about the blogpost about the differences between GB and ICS. Why? Because no owner of xperia has the obligation to be aware of the Sony blogs. Yes Sony told the upgrade may not be suitable for us but just on a blog which no customer does not have the obligation to follow.
When you connect your xperia to PC Companion, it only says there is an upgrade and says it will be very good if you upgrade to ICS. There is no link or no knowledge about that blogpost. It does not say "look at this blogpost before upgrade", it just says "go, upgrade it will be great!".
Sony played a great market game. They think they won, but they ended up with many angry customers.
Again, I don't blame Sony for the bugs. Each software may have those.
I agree on this, they should add this info on PCC and SUS so customers know if they want to update their phone
how hard is to for any provider to make the user switch between available updates ??
i don't think its that hard, if sony don't want to retreat back to GB for market issues then make it working on your new ICS.
it's not that simple, if you flash 2.3.4 to 2.3.2 you will get a battery bug, it will stuck at 0%. so if you think about it, this could create a LOT of issues and angry(er) customers.
it's not accepted by any meaning to leave customers this way, sony even don't admit that they have a problem, so what should be done now, through our phone and money in the trash??
just say that you will solve it , preven us from searching more than 3 hours per day for a solution our selfs, long time ago sony was one of the best but realy its better is check the support of a brand befor investing your mony with them
but you can take it to sony service center to downgrade or do it manually.
since you are following the official company on there updates then they are responsible for that update, you said you will lunch ICS on Neo v for an example , i buy it accordingly, so a solution will not be by downgrading.
there is must be an official tool from sony to revert back software to GB ...this is the least thing they can offer after problems we have with the new ics...and this tool will not take any time from them..so why the ignore?!
As I stated above it will create a lot of issues if they have both options to upgrade and downgrade. you have 2 ways to downgrade
1) take it to a sony service center
or
2) use flashtool or wotanserver or davinviteam or other thirdparty software
My wi-fi doesn't work. Sony, give us Android 2.3
