Electrostatic noise while using headphones

I sometimes hear a low crackling noise when I listen to my P via headphones/earphones. The noise is there regardless what headphones I use (although I can hear them much better while using in-ear ones), what application is generating the sound (stock music player, FM player, notifications, games, white noise generator, Poweramp), or what kind of music I listen to. I don't get any noise if there's no sound playing. It's not loud enough to badly distort what I'm listening to, but it can be very distracting and not something I expect for such a gorgeous device.

you could delete all the apps and check if the stock music app doesn't have this issue, it could be a taskiller, antivirus or something that run in the background all the time

BTW, I'm not the only one having this issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27128237&postcount=281

I don't have a task killer or an anti-virus installed in my phone. I have just stopped most running applications/services then started playing music on the stock player and the noise is still there.

Another thing that I have noticed is that the noise persists shortly after I have stopped playing music. There is noise as long as there is signal in the audio jack.

Yes I've had this issue too, it's especially noticeable when listening to music via Connected Devices (i.e. over DLNA) but not so bad in Music Player. This might suggest Wi-Fi interference possibly? I might do some tests with the phone in Airplane mode...

The noise does seem to be connected to Wi-Fi interference. I don't hear any noise when the Wi-Fi is turned off, but the headphones crackle the moment I turn the Wi-Fi on.

Yes, I have this problem too.  The static noise on audio is awful when WiFi operates, which renders the device unusable for streaming music or video.  I can confirm it disappears in "Airplane" mode, so it's some sort of signal interference.  It can be heard using the supplied Sony earphones or any other IEMs.

Is this problem acknowledged by Sony yet?  I sent my phone off for repair, but it came back the same, now waiting for an explanantion.

Is this a design problem or have we just been unlucky?

Bought phone yesterday, updated OS to Jellybean 4.3. First time l plugged in headphones today. It seems to either be the jack plug or headphones as it occurs headphone plug is moved so would seem to be a bad connection.
