Double tap screen wakeup in pocket & brightness BAD

In pocket keeping waking up the screen, only with me? And brightness issue it's present again here.

Such a useful feature, this "double tap to wake screen" thing, however, it's been BADLY spoiled by Sony's shoddy implementation! I have never ever ever heard anyone complaining about their phones turning on the screen, trying out some random passcodes, entering emergency dialer or if there is no screen lock, going into the apps and turning on absolutely everything ON ITS OWN! It even sent a voice message to a friend of mine on Messenger! WHAT IF IT HAD MANAGED TO SEND AN EMBARASSING THING TO A FAMILY MEMBER OR A TEACHER OF MINE? Why can it not detect that it's in my pocket so any sensing the screen does from my leg can be ignored?

Since Sony doesn't care to fix this issue, you can use a third-party app that implements proximity sensor.

For instance gravity screen is a more generic purpose one.

There are more specific apps that try to do similar things, such as hilocker (lock screen), glimpse notifications (notifications on lockscreen),  etc.
