Does not charge beyond 60%

Recently got a Xperia Z2. Charged it the first night from 31% to 100%. Did all the updates, downloaded the apps and games I wanted one there. And when I went to charge it again, I left it on charger overnight. Woke up to it being "full" at 60%. No charge indicator onscreen or the light. Unplugging and plugging back in did nothing. Tried a few things with Sony support to no avail.

When I was researching the issue, I remembered reading about it possibly being an app so I decided to factory reset the tablet. It sits next to me currently charging at 76%.

I'm posting to see if anyone knows anything concrete about what apps may be causing the issue. I do not believe it's a 3rd party app as attempting to charge in safe mode yielded the 60% issue.

if the problem persist in safe mode, then it must be a firmware problem,

try to software repair using Xperia Companion.

also check with your Local support service center if the battery is still in good condition

So far, after adding the apps I wanted it still charges over 60%. If the problem returns, I'll give that a shot and post an update.

Thanks for the tip, hopefully the issue is, and stays, resolved.

Hi @Damien77,

I am glad to hear that it now behaves normally! In case it happens again, could you try calibrating the battery? Charge your device fully to 100%, then use it until it drops below 5%. Once that is done, turn it off using the OFF button - then simply charge it while it's turned off until it reaches 100% again.
