Disfunctional Button

Hey,
My Xperia Play is not recognising volume up commands sent from the button.
As my rocker already dropped out months ago, I tried pressing the button directly with a pen. No response.
Could anyone help me? What do I need to do to get it working again?

it seems like a hardware issue, the obvious solution is to replace the button

Sounds like it would be wise to let one of our service shops check the phone and fix the button.
