Device driver software was not successfully installed D6503

Hi all,

I get this error message when I try to connect my Xperia Z2 to my Windows 7 (64-bit Home Premium) PC: "Device driver software was not successfully installed" ... "D6503".

I have tried all the commonly posted advice. The interface software is current. Windows insists it has the right driver (i.e. when I try to force a driver update in Device Manager). Fiddling with a Registry key was ineffective. Command-line tricks are ineffective.

I never had a problem connecting an Android device to a PC before. I am inclined to conclude that Sony has done something "clever" which is actually not, and which is preventing the correct driver from being installed.

Has anybody found a way around this, or must I return the phone under the "unfit for purpose" clause of consumer protection law?

very good service from sony that they reply instantly..

whats the point in a exceptional good phone with poor support??

if this poor service continues, this would be definatly my last sony device..

and build a linux version of your crappy software!! android IS linux so you have plenty developers..
