Cracked screen

Hi I have the same problem as many others in that the screen on my 2 month old Z1 compact cracked 2 days ago without any reason. The touch screen is now only working randomly and when I can get the phone to open up only the bottom half of the screen works! Can someone advise me if I contact Sony on the telephone listed here or is there an e mail contact? I just seem to be going round in circles on the website!

Many Thanks Kerri

Try the above. If you need to backup some of your stuff, get a USB OTG and connect a mouse to unlock the device.

Yes, last week my screen cracked while being idle on the table...sent the phone to Sony for analysis. I am sure that my phone suffers from the well known self-cracking problem. Unfortunately i was not able to backup any data from the device, which means that photos from around 1-2 month will be lost Crying_Face

I had the same problem. I let my phone on my desk in the evening, it was definitely OK, I used it to listen to music. On the next day, half of the touchscreen didn't work anymore. After examination, I noticed a very thin crack in the middle of the screen from the left to the right.

It's clearly a design issue of the Z1C, there are many similar reports online. I sent it to Sony, they offer to repair it for 175€. There is no guarantee that it will be a long term solution, since some people reported that their phone broke again shortly after being repaired. I will contact Sony's support to see if they can offer a more customer oriented solution. Otherwise, this will be my last Sony, I don't want to give more money to a company that expects its customers to pay for its own mistakes.

Its a SAD situation No More Purchase of any Sony Goods ! That's a Promise !!! i was given three choices (1) pay £90 for Sony to replace a screen that they had only replaced 6 Months prior  (2) Pay £20 for them to return as received (3) a offer of a £20 voucher to spend in any Sony outlet, I TOOK OPTION (2) and purchased a new screen from Ebay fitted ok and sold the phone on ! Bye Bye SONY , I do believe its a heat (battery)related problem expansion within ??
