Contacts from phone to SIM

If I export contacts with country-specific characters (german) from my phone to the SIM 7 characters in the names are limited.

That's a limitation usually set on the SIM itself, it has a limit on characters count and enteries also.

Hi Quester,

it is not the general limit for contacts and name spaces for SIM.

Names are allowed with 12 charakters.

Only names with special charakters are cut at 7.

May be it's the same limitation idea when you compose SMS's. The limit is normally 160, but gets reduced to 70 if you use a single special character inside. Not sure about it but it's just my own speculation.
