Its been a year since Im using my Xperia Z2. Fantastic phone!
Recently I have upgraded to lolipop operating system. The battery drains much much faster now and I have to carry a charger with me at all times.
Well, Now the phone is out of warranty and I guess no replacement will be given. Is it possible to replace a new battery for this phone? I know that htis phone is a sealed phone.
If there is a way to change it, I would appriciate the address of someone who can do it for me in Qatar.
Before jumping to hardware fixes, you can try performing a PC Companion phone repair, this will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Usually after major updates you may experience some instabilities if you upgrade over your old version.
Open PC companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.
Don't do restore with pc companion, don't bring it to some repair shop for new battery.
Lollipop and marshmallow both have a serieus bug which drains the battery.
There is nothing wrong with your battery.
All brands suffer, only Google can repair.... But it won't... Tricking People into buying New phones.
I don't understand why experts on this forum keep on telling to use pc companion. It doesn 't solve anything.
If you can...go back to kitkat
My z2 3 days on kk, 6 to 8 hours on lp.....figure! I Went back to kk (loosing my drm and special camera funtions in the processen...thanks Sony)
You can roll back to Kitkat without losing DRM and Camera features if you did it without unlocking your bootlaoder. And for PC Companion software repair, it does improve the phone performance from the fact it gives you a fresh and clean state of your software, without all the residual files and apps running in the background.
Your comparison can be true that LP consumes more battery than KK, but to achive 3 days on KK you gotta be slimming your usage to a major extent, and on LP I get 18 hours easy on my Z3 (Dual SIM) with over the average usage.
