Contacts disappear after restore from backup

Hi All,

I have a Sony Xperia Z3 compact and I backed it up using Sony PC Companion before factory resetting it.

When restoring it back my contacts don't go back to the phone. It is very weird because if i go to call log i will see all my last calls with the contact info and 1 second after it disappears and only the numbers remain. In my contacts only 4 or 5 are left instead of maybe the 100 that should be there.

I have tried resetting it again and restoring and same problem.

I have tried settings-apps-all- phone and contacts stopping the apps and clearing cache same problem.

I really would like having my contacts back!

Have you checked your contacts filters - open Contacts then tap on the 3 dots then Filter then uncheck boxes if ticked and check the title Display contacts

Yes, no filters applied.

Do they show up if you are in safe mode?

Any news on this issue?  I just found out that I have the exact same problem
