Hello everyone. I'm looking for a software from Google Play, that is reliable and will export all data from my contacts. Contacts are google type, they have pictures, birthday, skype ids, emails. I can't sync them with my google account. I also won't use any PC software, especially PC Companion. Please give me some tested, trusted software.
Regards
Hi there. I made a backup of contacts and propably SMSs/device settings using Sony PC Companion. The thing is, I can't restore them, it says that I can't restore it to that device. I was googling a lot, and none of the solutions were working. If I change it to .rar/.zip, i can open it (though only by WinRar; 7zip/winzip can't even open it) but I can't extract it or open any files inside, I'm getting errors that it can't be read as an archive. phoneMiner isn't working as well, I'm trying to open the file but it doesn't load anything. I'm getting desperate, please help me. :X
Regards.
edit: I highly doubt, that the file could be corrupted. If that's the case...

None of these are solutions. I also read all posts in the almost same thread a few threads below mine. I googled a lot, but nothing works ;_;
That's why I decided to post this here, so maybe someone can actually assist me.
Thanks for the effort tho
if none of those solutions work for you then I'm afraid the dbk file is indeed corrupted. by any chance did you synced your contacts with google/gmail?
I didn't. Well, why would it be corrupted if the backup was created successfuly and nothing was happening to the file for a few hours, that seems impossible!
sorry to hear that, perhaps someone else will have an idea other than those suggestions on those links
Sorry to hear this.
I'm afraid i see no other explanation for this then that the backup file is damaged/corrupt since neither Winzip or 7zip can open it and since WinRAR gives you an error when you try to extract files from it. In WinRAR there's an option for repairing a damaged archive that you can try to use but i suspect the data in this file is lost.
Thank you for answer. Surprisingly, repairing option worked, and I got a rebuilt archive of "lost data". I used the solution from another thread, .jar file, created a .tar archive, but in the end, there is no contacts file inside, only a WALLPAPER(?). So I guess that's all, there's nothing really I can do now. But what's troubling me is, why PC Companion screwed things up?! Yeah, it's my bad, I know, I should've used an external application for a backup and machines aren't reliable, but still, this backup data should be stored in a different way, a lot of people lose contacts, settings, etc. from their Xperias because of faulty operations on the official software? Imo, that should be changed.
Well anyways, thank you for your help, really appreciated
I'm glad that you got your contacts back, now you should create an extra backup
