I have an Xperia Z2 and I am very happy with it what does bug me though are the constant "unfortunately email has stopped" or " unfortunately such and such an app has stopped" and it really is annoying.
I realise that I can go into the setup> apps and clear the cache and the data if I wish. what worries me though is that if I clear the data what do I lose? Do I lose all saved email addresses and past posts or do I lose the whole bang shute?
I clear the cache frequently but I am never sure about the data.
Any and all help will be appreciated.

Do you have any taskiller or antivirus app installed ?
Thank you for your quick reply and to answer your question... no, I don't have a task killer installed but I do have AVG, Lookout and Malwarebytes installed. It occurs to me that this may be overkill as far as AV is concerned but I do like AVG and Lookout for their anti-theft protection. Do you think this may be a problem?

it could, uninstall all 3 > reset your phone > check again
How to boot on safe mode.

Thank you uliwooly and Phy.. I have rebooted into safe mode and at this point no stopped messages have appeared. It is a wee bit late here in Aus. soI'll try the uninstall trick tomorrow and I'll come back to you
Your assistance is very much appreciated.

Keep us updated
I started today off by booting into safe mode (Inever knew you could do that) and ran the tablet for a good 45 minutes with no failure messages. I rebooted and the first thing I uninstalled was Malwarebytes and I carried on using the tablet for the best part of kalf an hour an in that time I got one email failure message and no more. I am loathe to delete Lookout and AVG but if needs be I'll bite the bullet and see what happens
I took more time trawling through my apps deleting those that did a similar job like file managers. When I started on the tablet I had a devil of a job find stuff and the end result was more descriptive managers... so they are all gone but two.
At the moment I have email running in the background and there heve been no messages. Maybe I'm on the right track and I would welcome your comments.
I have more questions regarding data saving/cache and data clearing but I'll save them for another thread. In the meantime I look forward to your comments.
