Hi everyone, I have a SE XPERIA X10. I don't use PC Companion often enough just because, whenever I want to connect to my pc, I need to get the micro USB to do that. PC Companion offers connection via wireless for only 4 phones (3 models). XPERIA Arc, Play and neo. Why won't they do that for all XPERIA phones? Not even for X10 (which was much more expensive that Arc!). They all do offer wireless connection and can't seem to find the reason they won't let you connect that way. Any suggestions? Do the guys at SE ever see these posts and questions? Do they ever answer?
***Maybe they 'll add it up then***
yeah; let's do
The reason why this is only available for the later phones in PC Companion is that the support for this is built in in the later version of Android. (Only compatible with Windows Vista and 7)
Anyhow I know that there are some Samba server applications available for on Market. Maybe you could check if there might be of interest to you.
I have not personally tested them so I do not know if or how well they work.
So, in other words you are saying that, by later upgrade of the OS of XPERIA X10 from A.2.1 to A.2.3, that will be feasible right? I'm not interested in other sofware ("Anyhow I know that there are some Samba server applications available for on Market") thus I placed a specific question on PC Companion. The PC Companion I installed on my XP PC (I own 4 pcs with various OSs (XP, 7 and RH)), supports Arc to be connected wireless, so, I seriously doubt that the phone depends on the PC's OS (even with combination).
Hopefully this is something that will be supported in the upcoming Gingerbread update for the phone, but unfortunately I have no information about that right now.
And I do not know where the limitation for connecting wirelessly is located, but when selecting to connect via Wi-Fi in PC Companion it states that it's not compatible on Win XP computers.
weird ... since Arc (LT15), Arc (SO-01C), neo (MT15) and Play (R800) are fully Win XP compatible. u sure the OS has something to do with the connectivity? as far as I know all 4 models come with G/B (2.3). I think that's the reason they can connect via W/L
Yes, these phones are compatible with Win XP but I do not know why this certain feature is not supported for these phones using PC Companion on a Win XP computer.
But I've sent some feedback on this to concerned team.
Hi, It is related to Windows. I also have Win XP and 7 in my network at home and Win XP is lacking this feature. Yyou can check this by connecting the phone to computer with USB, right click on the phone in win explorer
and see that Network Configuration entry is not there on XP but exists on 7 (assume same goes for Vista).
ok, thank you both for your answers. I will try it now on my 7 and let you know asap
cheers
