I've been trying to upgrade my phone to the 6.1.C.1.105 update. Everything seems to work great until i'm supposed to unplug the usb from phone and computer, and turn off phone. When I turn the phone off, hold down volume down button and plug it back in, i get a message saying the device has malfunctioned and windows doesnt recognize the phone.
Everything works great until i have to turn the phone off. Ive tried turning on and off the debugging and the mass storage. ive tried it on a new laptop witth windows 8, and an older computer with windows xp, both with the firewalls and anti-virus on and off.
Ive called at&t, they wont update it, i've talked to sony who said they would send me an email with a link in it, and they did, with the exact same instructions as the website.
I'd appreciate ANY help with this, its really frustrating! Thanks in advance!
Karen
did you already try to reinstall SUS or PC Companion?
i dont know what sus is, but reinstalled PC companion several times on both computers. If SUS is from the service, yes i did that too, that is the link that sony gave me

yes, thats the link that sony sent me to use. unfortunately, you still have to turn off the phone to update it. thats my problem, once you trun the phone off and use the down button and plug the usb in, i get the malfunction, device is not recognized message.
thanks for your help so far!
Hmm, seems strange.
Have you updated it before with any issues?
If not, I think you have to send it in to a service center for repair as something seems to be faulty in the phone itself.
Ive only had the phone about two months, ive never had to update it before. I love the phone, no other problems with it.
