Chinese keyboard in my Xperia Arc?

Hi!

I wonder if anyone could solve this problem.

I want to have the possibility to switch from swedish to chinese keyboard.

No matter how I try I cant get this work. It works with all other language except japanese and chinese.

Why? And I can see that chinese and japanese got their own "settings" and their other languages is in the standardinput.

I think the asian model has a slightly different buttons on the keyboard as described in the manual, eg mine don't comes with the "Tool" button.

However, I had managed to setup the chinese keyboard and switch between English & Chinese inputs.

Here's how I did it (if I still remember it correctly):

1. Go to

2. Go to

3. Look to and tap the first function under that heading

4. Scroll to select

That should enabled your chinese input.

page 20 does NOT help. Chinese is not listed as one of the languages. Which is ridiculous... it's only the number 1 spoken language in the world by sheer volume of speakers.

the other poster suggestion did not work for me either.

the salesman in the store was able to show me this on his demo unit, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it going on my phone... they sure don't make it f-ing easy.

Any other ideas??

OK everybody! I finally figured it out, I am going by memory here so I might have the menu names a little wrong... AFAIK this is NOT in the manual...

when you have the regular keyboard on the screen, press the text area and hold it for a few seconds (the white area that your text shows up when you type)

a dialog will pop up allowing you to change the text input

select "change input method" (last one of three on the list)

then select Chinese Keyboard (or Japanese if that's what you want)

ENJOY!! Chinese and English can now be toggled from that keyboard, no need to go back to the stock one

Same way in using x10i or other xperia products.. Anyway, Arc's chinese keyboard has new features, I hope you watched the tips and tricks the first time you toggle your DEFAULT INPUT to Chinese...

Was there a tips and tricks?? I never saw it. Maybe I can still access that somewhere...

You missed it i guess.. you can change keyboard layout (in chinese keyboard) by flicking (dragging) your finger horizontally (left or right).. I can't upload pix here as SE disabled the "insert image"

Anyway, here's the way to tutorial

Go to SETTINGS

Tap Language and Keyboard settings

Tap Chinese Keyboard (under Keyboard Settings)

Scroll down, at the bottom, you will see SOFTWARE UPDATE, TUTORIAL, HELP, and ABOUT

Tap Tutorial
