Changing the date on pictures

The gallery for my phone is ordered by date, however, the date for some of the pictures I have put on the phone is wrong. When I look on my computer the properties are the correct date, but on my phone half my pictures will come up under January 1970? This includes pictures I have received through whatsapp. Is there any way I can change the date on these pictures. It does not let me change them on properties on my phone or my computer. I have tried changing the file date on apps but this does not seem to help the problem.

You will have to change the date one by one, check the playstore for apps that will change the date

Thank you but cannot seem to change dates on any pictures. Do you know how to?
