I am unable to setup my default mail client on SE Cedar to access my Gmail account. The phone tries to connect and gives an error "Server not found". My phone's internet connection works fine, and my Gmail account is configured to forward messages to mail clients, as I am able to use 3rd party mail apps like Mobiquus.
Did you use the phone's email set-up Wizard to configure the Gmail client?
The wizard did complete successfully and when it came to downloading emails it threw up an error "Cannot connect to server".
is your internet acount see in ur EMAIL setting and choisee web and not wap or gprs I hope help u
In that case, go to your Email Settings and make sure that under both the Incoming server (IMAP) and the outgoing server (SMTP), the Connect using option is set to the same data account as the one under Internet settings in the Connectivity settings of your phone.
I have already done that, in fact the blue globe does come on the top left of the screen indicating successful connection, but then immediately I get the message "Cannot connect to server". And thanks for helping out.
It is web, but not helping. Thanks for helping out.
In that case, try updating/reinstalling the software with the SE update service and/or a phone repair via PC companion, and failing that, a master reset.Remember to back up your phone on PC/PCcompanion/memory card beforehand.
The PC companion says that my phone is already up to date. How do I do a master reset? Do you mean restoring factory settings?
Yes, a master reset is restoring the phone to factory settings: Main menu--Settings--General--Master reset--Reset all. With PC companion, go to Support zone and select the Repair option which will end up re-installing the software.Let me know if either of these actions work.
