There has been much talk on capacitive buttons on Xperia S and most forums agree to some point that there is an issue with these buttons. Now comes my point... if some say that a rolling circular motion works, great. If some say a slow upward motion works, double great but I have tried all of the suggested motions and others and yes they sometimes work but other times they are simply unresponsive and users saying otherwise are just kidding themselves. When competitors can have phones with capacitive buttons that work when you simply press them like you would press any button on any given product without a slow swipe or a rubbing genie motion why cant Sony do this? My question to Sony would be, when are you going to acknowledge there is a problem with these useless buttons and do something about getting them to work? The phone is a brilliant phone let down by something so small in yet so frustrating. Unlike alot of users I have stuck by Sony/Sony Ericsson and really expect more from Sonys stand alone flagship phone. Come on Sony!!! Look after your loyal customers.
strange. i get it right since the first day i got the phone. i have no issues concerning the capacitive buttons. i just tap on the dot and it just works. no circular motion or slow upward motion.
maybe your phone is defective. it can be. am just saying.
If you are right then there are LOTS of defective phones. In every review of Xperia S on youtube you can see "defective" phone.
lol. am really sorry was not aware that so much people is having issues with this feature.
Two others have the same phone in the office I work... Same complaint from them. If some phones work fine then great but Sony needs to acknowledge that some don't work so well otherwise they risk damaging their reputation.
I'm aware of the complaints on the touch buttons and there have been software updates released to improve these. What software are you running on?
Thanks Johan, I appreciate your comments. Still running 2.3.7 awaiting Vodafone release of 4.0. Will this help?
As I understand the improvement for this was already implemented in the .75 software under the Gingerbread platform.
I have the same buttons issue with my Xperia S..... This is my first sony and it was an horrible experience.... in my case the contact area of the 3 buttons is between above the white dots an the end line of the screen..... this is really anoying and frustrating..... The problem can be fixed with firm updates??? or is a hardware problem?? My compilation num is: 6.0.A.3.7.5... I will never buy any SONY phone in my life.... I will come back to Samsung..... Sorry for my english.
And this is my point. There may be loyal suckers like myself that stick with Sony but the competition is so great that others will simply go to Samsung, HTC etc. Sony!!! You need to fix this quick before people lose faith in what is generally an awesome brand.
